December Favorites

December is here and we’re getting ready for winter and all the upcoming celebrations with family and friends. We’re sharing our favorite music, movies and more with special recipes for you to try at home!

What we’re listening to

“Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” - Brenda Lee 🎶

Bells will be ringing but we’re currently “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” There’s something about the tune from Brenda Lee that reminds us to let loose and embrace all the magic and traditions that the season has to offer, Kevin McCallister hosting a fake Christmas Party included. Psst did you know she recorded that song when she was only 13 years old? 😲

Christmas Movies 📺🎅

Are you a classics movie lover like White Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life, or do prefer more modern favorites like Home Alone and Elf? We love them all which is why we’re currently binging this ultimate holiday movie list. How many films can you check off your list? Let us know your family’s favorite seasonal movie on social media!

What we’re smelling

Balsam Pine👃🎄

Whether it’s from the live Christmas tree, a car freshener, or a scented candle, we love the smell of fresh pine around the holidays.

Current craving

Gingerbread Cookies 🍪

Are you the baker or the taste tester? Baking and decorating cookies is a long-time favorite activity because everyone gets to enjoy the result of the completed project, (including Santa). This year Kuby decided to make some gingerbread cookies too. What do you think?

Hydrate & Protect 🧴

It’s very important to protect your skin from the drying effects of artificial heat sources and the windy, bitter-cold air. It’s easy for cheeks, lips, and hands to get chapped in the winter months which is why we need to protect our skin from the elements. They say the best defense is a good offense, so grab your favorite moisturizer and lip balm and apply liberally as a part of your daily winter skin routine. Keep 100% Natural Cotton KubWipes on hand to wash your face before applying moisturizer. Our wipes help gently cleanse skin without all the drying effects of added chemicals.

Ugly Holiday Sweater Party 🎉

Get the gang together and celebrate in style. Whether your holiday sweater is homemade and includes lots of hot glued pom poms and bells, or it’s an outrageous vest passed down to you by your mother, getting decked out to deck the halls is always a good time. Stop taking yourself so seriously and have some fun “ya filthy animal.” 😉

"Jingle Bells" was the first song played in space. 🔔

Trick to try

DIY Avocado Deep Hydration Mask 🥑

Avocados have long been known for their health properties in the body. They’re full of healthy fats, loads of gut-friendly nutrients, protein, and also a rich source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits, (not to mention their delicious creamy flavor). It’s easy to see why people are obsessed with avocado in everything from guacamole to hair products, but did you know avocados are great for your skin too? The good oils in avocados penetrate deep into your skin and help it feel nourished and hydrated. We’ve got a super simple at-home DIY face mask to help hydrate your skin from the drying effects of artificial heat sources and the bitter winter cold.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • ¼ of an avocado (mashed)
  • 1 Tbsp banana (mashed)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp fresh squeezed lemon or orange juice.

Mash the avocado and banana together, then add in the olive oil and juice.  Mix until they form a smooth paste.  Apply the mask with a brush or your fingers, taking care to avoid the eye area, and leave it on for 15 minutes.  Rinse skin with warm water and pat dry with a 100% natural cotton dry wipe from KubWipes, ensuring all traces of the mask are removed. Enjoy glowing, hydrated skin!
